Irish Premier Visits Donaldson's Ireland

The 29th September 2006 was a big day for Donaldson Timber Engineering Ireland when the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, T.D. visited their Mountmellick truss manufacturing facility.

While at the Donaldson plant, Ireland’s largest purpose built, dedicated, roof truss manufacturing facility, Mr Ahern T.D. was shown the company’s newly installed €1m Hydra Press automated roof truss manufacturing system. Managing Director Mr Brendan Flanagan explained to Mr Ahern T.D. that the Hydra Press was the first of its kind in Ireland and only the third in Europe. The €1m investment had been necessary to keep up with customer demand and maintain DTE’s “On time, every time” promise to customers.

DTE Ireland has grown rapidly since its establishment in 2004 and now has capacity to produce 3000 timber roof trusses per week and has achieved ISO 9001, PEFC accreditation and FAS Excellence through People. The factory is currently expanding its capacity and on completion will be capable of manufacturing 4000 trusses per week.

Mr Flanagan commented

“We were delighted that the Taoiseach chose to visit us at Donaldson Timber Engineering. We now have a skilled and dedicated workforce of 40 people here and Mr Ahern’s interest in our work gave each and every one of us a real morale boost!”
